Mercy Recognized as Top Hospital for Orthopedics by Money Magazine
May 04, 2026
Mercy Medical Center has earned recognition as one of the 2026 “Best Hospitals in America” by Money magazine for orthopedic surgery. Money, founded in 1972, is a trusted source for personal finance news and consumer rankings.
Money started with 6,000-plus hospitals across the country and considered only facilities that received a four- or five-star rating for quality from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). According to the CMS, fewer than 1,300 hospitals have a 4-star rating or higher.
Each of the hospitals on Money’s list was assigned an overall letter grade of between A+ and B, the latter being the minimum grade we considered for inclusion, after removing lower scoring hospitals.
Mercy received an “A” for overall Orthopedic Grade, with an “A+” in Price Transparency. Mercy was cited specifically for “Advanced total hip and knee replacement, shoulder replacement, and spinal surgery.”
"This national recognition is further evidence of the skill and dedication of our orthopedic joint and spinal teams and their support staffs," said Dr. David N. Maine, president and CEO, Mercy Health Services. "It reflects our commitment to the mission of the Sisters of Mercy, to provide quality care in a compassionate setting."
This recognition adds to a growing list of distinctions for The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital at Mercy (which includes Orthopedics & Joint Replacement at Mercy, The Maryland Spine Center, and The Minimally Invasive Brain & Spine Center, among other key centers), which recently earned a number of honors, including:
- U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals – High Performing in Spinal Fusion Surgery (2025-2026)
