Mercy Medical Center Honored with 2025 Beacon of Hope Award from Mosaic Group
September 17, 2025
Mercy Medical Center has been named a 2025 awardee of the inaugural Beacon of Hope Award, presented by the Mosaic Group. The recognition highlights Mercy’s outstanding peer recovery coaches, who provide critical support to patients through Reverse the Cycle, a screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (SBIRT) program used by the hospital.
Introduced this year, the Beacon of Hope Awards celebrate exceptional peer recovery coaches within the Mosaic Group’s Reverse the Cycle national network—a hospital-based substance use response model that is driving measurable impact and inspiring change across the country. Honorees are recognized for their remarkable qualities, unparalleled skills and meaningful impact on the lives of those they support.
“At Mercy, our peer recovery coaches embody compassion, resilience and dedication in walking alongside patients on their journey to recovery,” said Cecilia Rubiera, LCPC, RPS, the behavioral health manager at Mercy. “This award is a powerful affirmation of their vital role in helping individuals and families overcome substance-use challenges.”
Mercy’s Reverse the Cycle program integrates peer recovery coaches directly into hospital-based care, ensuring that patients struggling with substance use have access to immediate support, resources and a trusted partner in recovery. Coaches not only assist individuals in crisis but also help reduce barriers to treatment, promote long-term wellness, and foster hope within the community.
“Receiving the Beacon of Hope Award reflects the strength of Mercy’s commitment to patient-centered recovery and the incredible work of our Peer Recovery Coaches,” said Dr. David N. Maine, President and CEO, Mercy Health Services, Mercy Medical Center. “We are proud to be recognized among healthcare leaders across the nation working to transform substance use response and care.”
The Beacon of Hope Awards underscore Mosaic Group’s mission to advance innovative solutions that address substance use and improve outcomes for patients, families, and communities.
