Mercy Medical Center has been ranked as one of America's Best Employers By State for the second consecutive year by Forbes magazine, a leading national business publication. Mercy's selection is based on a survey of more than 160,000 employees of companies with at least 500 people working in U.S.-based operations.

Ultimately, 1,417 companies made it on to at least one of the state lists, which yielded a combined 2,500 rankings. Of these, 70 were chosen in Maryland. Mercy was one of 10 healthcare organizations in the state to be named.

"It is extremely gratifying to be named among the best employers in the state of Maryland by our staff and the greater Maryland community. It is further proof of Mercy's commitment to our mission to deliver quality care in a compassionate setting, each and every day," said Dr. David N. Maine, President and CEO, Mercy Health Services.

Now in its 7th year, the America's Best-in-State Employers 2025 recognition continues to highlight companies for their success as employers on a regional and statewide level and to celebrate organizations for their commitment to fostering an environment where employees can thrive.

Survey respondents - hailing from all 50 states and Washington D.C. - were asked how likely they were to recommend their employer on a scale of zero to 10 and were asked to evaluate their workplace based on criteria including wage parity, work culture, paths to professional advancement and whether the employer takes action on serious issues.

Participants were also asked to evaluate their previous employers (within the last two years) and organizations they knew within their industry or through friends or family who work there.

Forbes has recognized Mercy in the past, naming the 150-year-old hospital among the top 400 mid-size employers in the U.S. in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2024 and 2025.
