Mercy Nurses Recognized with 2024 Sisters of Mercy Nursing Awards

As part of the annual recognition of National Nurses Week May 6-12, Mercy Medical Center in hosted The Sisters of Mercy Nursing Awards on Wednesday, May 8. This year's recipients were:

  • Jada Banks, BSN, RN, CEN, Emergency Department: Nursing Visionary Award, presented in the spirit of Sister Mary Damian Faller, RSM
  • Nancy Fitzpatrick, BSN, RN, CNOR, CRNFA, Bunting Operating Room: Compassionate Caregiver Award, presented in the spirit of Sister Mary Thecla Lancaster, RSM
  • David Lynch, BSN, RN, B14 Specialty Surgery: Nursing Hospitality Award, presented in the spirit of Sister Elizabeth Anne Corcoran, RSM
  • Norman Jacinto, MSN, RN, Angiography: Community Impact Award, presented in honor of Sister Helen Amos, RSM
  • Ekua Dadson, BSN, RN, Bunting 16 Orthopedics, Nursing Leadership Award, presented in honor of Sister Mary Thomas Zinkand, RSM
  • And in a new category for 2024, Hope Herd, BSN, RN, CPAN, Bunting PACU, Nurse Analyst Award, presented in honor of Sister Aine O'Connor, RSM

Stacey Brull, DNP, RN, NE-BC, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, made both the welcoming and closing remarks at the event with further remarks by Susan Finlayson, DNP, RN, NE-BC, Senior Vice President.

"We'd like to wish our heartiest congratulations to all the nominees and recipients of the 2024 Nursing Excellence Awards. Your dedication and efforts continue to reflect the mission of the Sisters of Mercy, providing patients with excellent nursing care," Brull said.

Dr. David N. Maine, Mercy Health Services President and CEO, recognized the entire Mercy nursing team for "ensuring patients and their families receive quality care in a compassionate setting."

Mercy is recognized by the national Magnet Recognition Program® of the American Nurses Credentialing Center for quality patient care and nursing excellence. In addition, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) has named Mercy a gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence recipient for its Critical Care Unit.
