MedChi Awards Mercy's CME Program Accreditation with Commendation
August 15, 2019
MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society, the statewide professional association for licensed physicians, has awarded Mercy Medical Center’s CME (Continuing Medical Education) Program Accreditation with Commendation status for a 6-year period, June 30, 2019 to June 30, 2025, marking Mercy’s first 6-year accreditation. This status places Mercy in the top tier of all Med Chi CME providers.
“This recognition is in keeping with Mercy’s ongoing commitment to physicians, the medical profession and patients throughout the region,” said Thomas R. Mullen, President and CEO, Mercy Health Services, Mercy Medical Center. “Mercy continues to have a long tradition as a teaching hospital and provides high quality educational opportunities to doctors and health care professionals, thus insuring high quality of patient care.”
To earn Commendation status, an organization must demonstrate compliance in all Med Chi Criteria and Accreditation Policies. A rigorous, multi-level process is involved to evaluate CME programs according to the high standards adopted by all seven ACCME member organizations: the American Board of Medical Specialties, American Hospital Association, AMA, Association for Hospital Medical Education, Association of American Medical Colleges, Council of Medical Specialty Societies and Federation of State Medical Boards.
